The heirs on Zee world tells about the story of Amba Pawaniya (Aarti Singh), a Punjabi mother who is forced to raise her girl child, Manpreet Pawaniya, as a boy, in efforts to keep peace in the village and prevent her violent brother-in-law Jaggan Pawaniya (Akshay Dogra) from taking leadership.

The show deals with its consequences, and focuses on different situations. It shows the horrible gender discrimination still popular in society, along with every mother’s protective nature towards her child.

7 years leap

7 year later

Amba has brought her own seven-year-old daughter Manpreet (Sania Touqeer) who is named Mannu as a boy, to keep Mannu’s father Charan Pawaniya (Mohammed Iqbal Khan)’s title. Amba doesn’t want Jaggan to become leader of the village as he is a cruel ruler and he will destroy the village – if given the power.

Mannu naturally tends to go for female things like her older sisters who were also Amba & Charan’s another daughters, Simran aka Simmi (Farhina Parvez) and Gunjan, once Mannu learns of her truth, she decides to become the son her mother needs and suppresses the girl in her. Mannu’s oldest sister, Simmi, learns of Mannu’s truth and supports her whenever she wants to indulge in her feminine side.

Later, Mannu befriends Raj Bajwa (Wahib Kapadia), a handicapped boy, who is neglected by his father Harjeet Bajwa (Anand Suryavanshi) due to his disability. Although the Pawania’s and Bajwa’s are known for their rivalry, they both work together to try and bring peace to the village.

Mannu also befriends an older man named Jai (Ashish Kapoor), and even thinks to match make her mother and Jai. Unfortunately, Jai dies in an accident. Then enters Mohini (Jasveer Kaur), Jai’s friend from his former life, who loves Jai dearly. Meanwhile, Simmi falls in love with Harjeet Bajwa’s eldest son, Raman.

Mannu sees this as an opportunity to bring the clashing families together, and to form a bond of love between the Pawania and Bajwa families. Amba and Harjeet Bajwa refuse to accept this, and when Raman and Simmi elope to get married, their families find them. An intense confrontation leads to Mohini secretly shooting Raman, and in return – Harjeet shoots Simmi.

Due to the fact Mannu was holding a gun pointed towards Raman during this, the Bajwa’s assume that Mannu is responsible for their son Raman’s death. Simmi is declared dead, the friendship between Raj and Mannu is broken, and Raj & Raman’s mother, Amrit (Vandana Lalwani) takes Raj to a city with her, leaving her husband Harjeet Bajwa and her another son, Rohan (also Raj & Raman’s brother).

TEN YEARS LEAP:

Manpreet has grown up to be Mannu, the Shah of the village. Now, Mannu’s second older sister knows about her truth. Mannu secretly dresses as a girl once in a while and goes by the name Preet(now her second nickname) When Raj returns he falls in love with Preet, not knowing she is Mannu herself. Eventually, Raj comes to know that Mannu and Preet are same person. He convinces Preet to show her true identity and marry him. When Amba finds out about Mannu and Raj’s relationship, she tries to kill Raj. But Preet dresses as a bride and went to the temple to get married to Raj.

10 years leap

Finally Raj and Preet got married, Raj reveals that it was all a plan by him to take revenge on her for his brother Raman’s death. The village council dethrones her from the title of Shah and she is sentenced to live her life outside the pawania clan. With the help of Amrit (Raj’s mother) Preet enters the Bajwa’s house.

The Heir is now gearing up for an interesting leap of 10 years. In the upcoming track , viewers will witness lot of twist and turns. The kids will grow up and the post leap story line will turn out to be a youth centric one bringing in their love track.”

New Manu after Post 10 Year Leap

The 10 year leap will bring forth a whole new chapter in the Pawania and Bajwa households with their enmity being intact. Amba now holds the reigns of the Pawanias and leads them with utmost hatred for the Bajwas in her heart with Jagan as her ally. The mother who has seen her entire family crumble has taken some ruthless decisions that has seen a rift between her and Manu. On the other hand, Manu, to honor her mother’s decision has grown up as a boy and a head strong one at that. While Manu doesn’t agree with most of her mother’s decisions especially involving the destruction of the Bajwas, she finds a way out of the situation with the sole purpose of restoring peace in the land. For the first time, viewers will also see a battle of ideologies between Amba and Manu. While the mother-daughter duo love and care for each other deeply, the clash of their opinions will bring about a new dimension to their relationship.

The leap will also see introduction of some new characters in the show. Farnaz Shetty is leaving no stone unturned to get into the skin of Manu’s character which requires major transformation in her looks and mannerisms. Donning the garb of a Punjabi boy, Farnaz will sport pathani suits with a pagdi. The good looking actor Neel Motwani will be seen opposite her as the flamboyant Rajveer.

Arti Singh who essays the role of Amba, shares, “I am really thrilled with the way Amba’s character will shape up post the leap. As an artist it gives me a great opportunity to showcase my versatility. Amba will now be seen in a much more powerful role whilst her relationship with Manu also changes in many ways. Viewers will surely be surprised to see this new side of Amba in The Heirs.”

Farnaaz Shetty adds, “It feels great to have been offered to play such a pivotal role in The heir. This show has a concept that is so beautifully recognized by the viewers that when I was approached I immediately said yes. Manu as a character will be seen continuing to live up to her mother’s dream of becoming the head of the Pawanias’. Sporting the look of a Panjabi Jatt boy is challenging but I hope viewers love my look and appreciate the hard work.”

Ever since Mannu’s long lost friend Raj has re-entered Mannu’s life, Amba is afraid of Mannu getting too close to Raj, and her real identity getting revealed.

Now, to keep Mannu away from Raj, Amba will have a mastermind plan.

Our source informs us, “Amba will get Mannu engaged to girl named Neha who would belong to their village. She would plan this for Mannu because she would want her to be away from Raj and save her from going on the wrong track.”

When we contacted Farnaz, she confirmed the development with us and said, “It was quite an awkward feeling to shoot for this sequence. I was feeling so weird when the girl was looking at me and blushing. This has been the most difficult scene for me to do out of all the performance oriented scenes I have ever done before (laughs).”
